i hate to sleep alone

For fear that this blog might be getting too boring (ranting and absence of pics), I give you: Eddie Money.

The past couple days, my lovely sister, EmDog, has been calling me at say 10 or 11 in the morning. Odd time to hear from her. There have a been a few family health things going on, so even though I'm at work, I've been answering. Every time I answer, she says "Dammit! You answered! I was gonna leave you voicemail. Eddie Money's on!" This happened like two days in a row.

EmDog and I have this thing. If there's a song on the radio that reminds us of something or sometime, we call each other and when voicemail picks up we press our cellphones to our car speakers. You know, sister secrets. Little shared things that don't make sense, but make you laugh hysterically.

Today EmDog called and I didn't pick up on purpose. Damn! No voicemail. I was looking forward to it. She needed help writing a letter to her landlord. :) This one's for you EmDog.

nothing special

What I've been up to:

- I finished the multi directional scarf and I must say, this is probably the most loved item I've knitted thus far. It is soft, scrunchy, warm-but-not-too-warm, and the perfect width and length. I *heart* it and have been wearing it daily since it came off the needles Friday. Soon I will have to pry it from my neck and wash it, but I'm worried about the separation anxiety.

- Je deteste le needles wooden. I rarely knit with them, but I've found that when I do I hurt myself. I try to go too fast and end up abusing my wrists and needing some time off. This happened after my stink with the ballband. No fear. Addi's to the rescue and lesson learned.

- I made a pair of baby booties. Terribly easy and quick. I've already moved on...

- Last night I finally had the nerve to look at my ribbed socks again. I had turned the heel before I realized (I had had a sinking feeling all along) that my gauge was totally off. Once this was realized, this sock sat on my end table for about 2 weeks. I would see it every day and say, "Not yet my friend. I cannot face you." Last night I decided to cast on socks for Hubby. I gathered everything I would need to start them on this morning's train ride. I paused and thought about gauge. Maybe I would need my size 1's? I walked over to the sock and ripped the needles out. Immediately, I thought "Stupid! Stupid!" and put the active stitches back on the needles. With the loops returned to safety, I took out my tape measure and again, saw that my gauge was off by 1/2 inch. There's no helping these. They are headed to the frog pond.

- I ordered Yarn Harlot's new book. Soooo anticipating this read.

- I've been reading a lot of knitting blogs. Sometimes this is downright depressing. There are some amazing knitters out there. One look here is enough to make me want to give up. Seriously... I can't even get a ribbed sock to fit right and let's not even talk about the 7/8 completed sweater that's in a bin in my closet.
