Tape Measures

Tape measures are little fockers, no?

I buy this little guy at lunch today because I haven't been able to find the other two for months.

Then I come home and within 5 minutes I find them in separate locations.

Cheeky little fockers.

Don't even get me started on needle guages.

uh oh

I'm still reeling from my yarn fever and it's apparent that I haven't fully recovered. I've seen this happen before. This is about how far it goes before one put herself on a yarn diet.

I bought this at lunch at Windsor Button. Malabrigo. My first.

I'm so utterly excited about this pure merino softness. Both will become hats for me.
I believe the blue one will be a Koolhaas.

Then I returned home to this on my steps:

That my friend is a whole mess 'o tweed. 17 balls of RYC Soft Tweed. This is for a still secret project.

So yeah. Gurl better stop buying yarn.

Here's what I've done on the Traveler's Stocking:

And I'm almost done with the back of the Minimalist:

When I finish the back of the Minimalist, I get to cast on for the Koolhaas.
I'm hopin' for tonight!!

NYC

We went to NYC this weekend. We drove to Connecticut and took the train. It was Hubby's first time in Grand Central and he was awestruck.

It's such a cool place. I love that it hasn't changed in so many years.

We hopped on the 6 and made our way to our destination:

Lawrence Weiner's retrospective AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE is at the Whitney through the 10th. Go. Hurry. I have met Mr. Weiner and he is a great man. Funky and charismatic. The exhibit was amazing. Well worth the trip.

From there we made our way down 5th Avenue along Central Park.

This goat was causing quite a stir at the petting zoo near the real zoo. He was seriously considering makin' a break for it.

We walked all the way down to Rockefeller Center,

and took the obligatory self-portrait:

We wandered on the Avenue for the Americas for another 10 minutes before declaring ourselves frozen and hailing a cab to the Strand.

The Strand was recommended by a friend. I didn't buy anything. That doesn't mean I didn't try. There were about a million things I wanted to buy, but I didn't want to carry any of them. I really wanted one of their groovy tote bags, but all of the sudden the checkout line was 18 miles long.

On a whim I took Hubby to S'Mac for dinner and let me tell you what kind of man Hubby is. You can take him to one of the best museums in the country, show him some of the best sites and architecture in the world, surround him with the electricity of 8 million people and all of that will pale in comparison to a miniature cast iron skillet of pasta and cheese. Seriously, every recap he's given has gone like this: "We went to NYC. It was cool. We walked around and then Haddy took me to this macaroni and cheese place called SMACK! It was sooo good." I think I'll keep him. I recommend the 4 cheese and the gruyere. Hubby recommends the goat cheese.

We took the scariest cab ride back to Grand Central,

and got on a train back to Connecticut.

This was our first trip to NYC together. Not bad for our first outing.
