My favorite project

Cobblestone update: I finished the sleeves and cast on for the body.

I figured that deserved a reward.

So I cast on for Composed Mitts. I started on the way to Maine on Sunday morning. I finished the first mitt on the bus this morning. There's something disappointing about finishing a project on public transportation. As with any project, there's that split second "I did it. I made this." moment and no one cares. Truly. Especially on a morning commute. No one cares.
Unless of course you made coffee.

Seriously, I think this is my favorite project. All time favorite. So much fun to knit, it went super fast and it's tres jolie.

It has baubles:

It doesn't have fingers.
Perfect for commuting, phone clutching and T-pass digging:

It's fair isle in great colors:

I did mess up my tension a bit, especially in this section:

I don't care though.
I'll try to work some of the tight stitches free, but I love it how it is.

I love it inside out.

Man Quilt Lovin'

For me, sewing is like riding a bike. First couple yards are wobbly, but then you catch your groove and you're good.

I cut the fabric on Wednesday and did most of the sewing on Saturday. It was delivered on Sunday. Not too bad. I don't know when I started sewing or what my first project was. Maybe my mom knows. I've been sewing independently (somewhat) for 10 years now. My first independently conceived and constructed project was a blanket similar to this. I sew a couple times a year and I can safely say that this is the first project I've completed without once using my grandmother or mother for training wheels. Not even a consultation call. It looks a little wobbly and wrinkly above, but it's not. It's quilted (in the seams), but it doesn't look like it. It could use an iron, but we've been over that...

Here's some more of that manly fabric:

I got this pic on my phone last night. I'm not sure what the remotes are there for. Like in most situations, I'm afraid to ask. The blanket is gettin' some love and that's all that matters.
