"Is it a central park?"

I've been at a conference these past couple days. It was a national conference that was conveniently hosted by my fair city. One always hopes to run into a few people that you haven't seen in a while, but it's always the people you least expect to see that usually make some sort of impact.

So, there I am at the reception hosted by my graduate alma mater, nibbling on cheesecake on a stick (?!) and flourless chocolate tartlets chattin' it up with two gals from my cohort. In walks a fourth member of our class. Hugs, "where are you now's?", and funny faces about cheesecake on a stick were exchanged. I happened to glance down at the pile my friend had just dropped (conferences. you've always got a bunch of crap to drag around...) and I see a sweater.

Me to Friend: Is this your sweater?
Friend: Yes.
Me: Did you make this?
Friend: Yes... (in that way the knitters do amongst non-knitters)
Me: I knit. Can I look at it?

I proceed to pick it up, which probably freaks her out a bit. I see the hood is cabled.

Me: Is it a central park?
Friend: Yes.... it is!

and the convo progresses to ravelry usernames and how that very sweater and my lovely friend are featured in the current knitscene.

*excited virtual hand waving* Hi friend!!! That sure is a nice central park!
