Stashy

It was Christmas at the mailbox today. 1, 2, 3... 4! 4 things ordered from my friend the internet. To think that not too long ago I was one of those people: "I don't like ordering online. You pay shipping! I'll just go to the store." No more my friends. I went and got myself a job and a busy schedule. Shipping costs are a small price to pay to be greeted at the mailbox by stuff, glorious STUFF! YAY!

Can't resist me some Cherry Tree. Colorway: Loden. Gonna make real purdy socks pour moi.

Louet Gems. Never seen it in a store. Had to try it. More socks, yo.

Spring Interweave came in the mail (back issue) and bought the Summer Interweave and knit.1 at Borders today. Interweave = always inspiring. Makes me want to knit better. I bought knit.1 because a) Vickie Howell has a column in it b) it's Vogue knitting for 18-35 year olds. While Vickie still rocks it, knit.1 does not. Seriously, there's a pattern for a knitted jumpsuit:

Um. Yeah. Once you publish a jumpsuit, I'm likely to lose interest.

Side note: Mike Lupica was at Borders signing his new book. My friend Julie and I were just goofing off on lunch and he was there. We heard him speak and then Julie bought his book, got it signed and shook. Mike. Lupica's. Hand.
Yes, she's the big winner today.

Side note 2: Don't ask why I had to back order that Spring Interweave or why I still have two copies of Fall when I "have" "had" a subscription. Someday I'll tell you the story over a beer. It's a good one too.

Sock Progress.

A keen observer would notice, "Hey yarn, yarn, magazine! That's only 3 things in the mail!" Well, my keen reader, the fourth is secret. Nephew's 7th birthday is coming up and I've been acquiring supplies. Did I mention I had a 15 minute phone conversation with him about farts the other day? That's a good story for the bar as well.

Watermelon Socks & Tile

I finished a slew of projects this weekend. I told myself that when these particular ones were done, I would only work on stuff for me. I always get seduced by socks and I've knit a few pair, but I don't have one pair to call my own. So, in the coming weeks I hope to crank out socks, pour moi.

There is one catch. I'm dying to read a book. I'm thinking a time out may be coming my way. I may put my needles down. I've been thinking and thinking. Honestly, I'm a little afraid to stop. What if I never pick them up again? What if I fill my time with something else? I'll figure it out as I go.

I started socks on Sunday night. Here's where I was yesterday:

I finished turning the heel this evening. I've only the race to the toe. I call these my watermelon socks.

The floor is coming along for those interested in DIY stuffs. I still can take absolutely no credit for anything associated with this floor. Hubby has done it all and done it well.

Roxie's eating. What else is new?!

There's no grout yet and the grout will be the same color as the tile, so when it's done you won't see the cracks as well. I like it.

Secret Knitting

There is secret knitting en route to two lucky readers. Hmmm... I wonder who they could be?

OH! There is secret yarn on the way to another reader! It's a fun week!
