There is nothing worse for a knitter with a deadline than not having the necessary tools with her when she needs them.
I'm currently enduring a self-inflicted time crunch. I've gotta get some slippers done for a few kids I'm visiting in Milwaukee this weekend. A pair of kid slippers is a matter of hours to crank out, so no big deal, right?
I got pair #1 done and felted/fulled on Monday night. Started pair #2 on the way to work yesterday. Worked on it at lunch and was looking at having one slipper done and getting a good start on the second one last night. Right on pace. Doing well.
I had to dash out of work early yesterday. I rushed to the bus, sat down and congratulated myself on a good hustle. I opened my bag to pull out the slipper and WHAT!?!? Where's my pattern?!?!?! WHAT!?!?! It's not in my bag!!! Oh nooooooooooooooooo!
This slipper is not the kind of project I can do sans pattern. Weirdly placed increases and decreases throughout. Plus, two slippers have to match, you know. I just can't go makin' this stuff up.
So, I saw it as a sign from the knitting gods. Take the night off girl.

Deep calming breaths help too :)
Fear not! They will love you no matter what you bring! but I will tell you that the slippers will be much loved. #2's are dead again, #3 is missing one (can't find the danged thing anywhere) #1's are too big and so he hates them. Anything from Aunt Haddy will be way cooler than anything from me ;)
This blog has become one of the most entertaining points of my day. "Take the night off, girl." Can totally imagine yarn angels sighing at the woeful sight of Patternless Haddy, wishing mercy and compassion upon her.
Small slippers...seriously cute! I will vouch for her, she didn't touch a needle yesterday. I did catch her knitting in her sleep though, yelling "pearl, knit, pearl, damit!"
Pearl Knit! Pearl CLAMDIGGER!!
Hey I thought you were only taking a night off. Its the 8TH.
Get Better and post!!
