Skye Tweed Ribbed Cardigan

A couple weeks ago I started the Skye Tweed Ribbed Cardigan from Classic Elite Tweed 2. I was wandering around Butterfly Yarns looking for inspiration. I've considered this book before, but when I saw that the size small only took 9 balls I decided to grab it.

Months ago I picked up 9 balls of skye tweed at Butterfly on clearance knowing that it would be a stretch to make a whole sweater. At some point I picked up a couple more balls at Fabric Place in a decidedly different dye lot, but close, just in case. It's been waiting in my stash.

This cardigan is really unique. First off, the shaping is done within cables. Like, you increase and decrease within right and left leaning cables. Different.

I had some trouble from the start. It's 1x1 rib on an odd number of stitches, so you start one row with a knit and the other with a purl. The pattern says 1x1 (RS) = knit 1, purl 1, then it says to work a cable decrease row on the RS - which would mean the side starting with a K, no? Wrong. Increase, decrease cable rows are written to start on the purl side row.

Also the right decrease and left increase lean the same way. Has to be a typo. I didn't take a pic showing this because I don't want to see it. I'm not re-knitting it the way I think it should look. You'll never be able to tell on a trotting horse, as my grandmother would say.

I'm a couple inches shy of being done with the back. Good thing 1x1 is stretchy, cuz this sorta looks like a corset.
