Husband Interview

Everyone else is doing it....

Haddy: Do you have a few minutes? Can I interview you via skype for my blog?
Hubby: Sure. But I have to warn you. We are listening to greatest hits of the 90's and "ace of base" was just on.

Haddy: What is your favorite thing about my knitting?
Hubby: My slippers. That was easy.

Haddy: Let me re-phrase the question: What is your favorite aspect of me having knitting as a hobby? (not what is your favorite knitted thing.)
Hubby: *two minute pause* one sec. thinking * two more minutes* The quiet time on the couch, particularly when I am tired. Soothing.

Haddy: What is something I have knitted that you recall as being good?
Hubby: Slippers. They are essential.

Haddy: Do you think knitters have an expensive hobby?
Hubby: Not sure. Don't think it is really expensive. Cheaper than most hobbies.
Haddy: I think you got off a little easy there. I'm not really crazy about stashing yarn. Knitters are notorious for spending a lot on yarn. But then again, you know I'm crazy frugal.
Hubby: True dat.

Haddy: Do you have any hobbies?
Hubby: Running and fly fishing and dancing.
Haddy: What is your favorite style of dance?
Hubby: improv

Haddy: Has my knitting in public ever embarrassed you?
Hubby: No. You usually do it fully clothed.
(I'm not touching that one. Seems like a trap.)

Haddy: Do you know my favorite kind of yarn?
Hubby: No.
Haddy: That was sort of a trick because I don't really have one type. My only preference is wool.
Hubby: Expensive wool
Haddy: Wait. What happened to the frugal part?
Hubby: Was supposed to be followed by a ?
Haddy: Oh. Do you mean like the Rowan I bought at WEBS?
Hubby: Yes. I know you like that stuff.
Haddy: Yes. Me likes a good classic tweed.
Hubby: Although that fancy yarn that you got from me (sangria) didn't work out. (He's referring to a skein of Seasilk that I have been wrestling with for 2 months. I'll blog about that some other time. It's a good story.)

Haddy: Can you name another blog?
** two minutes pass**
Haddy: You're googling stuff right now, huh?
**three more minutes pass**
Hubby: I am not googling stuff. Boilermaker to boston is another blog. That I know of. Running blog.
Haddy: So you really don't know any other knitting blogs.
Hubby: No other knitting blogs.
(a one knitter man. me likes.)

Haddy: Do you mind that I want to check out yarn stores everywhere we go?
Hubby: Not at all.

Haddy: Do you understand the importance of a swatch?
Hubby: No.
Haddy: Me neither.
Hubby: But they did make great watches.
**crickets**

Haddy: Do you read Knitty McGillicutty?
Hubby: Yes.
Haddy: How often?
Hubby: Couple times a month. I find out all kinds of stuff about you on it.
Haddy: Like what?
Hubby: Stuff about your work, knitting, etc.
Haddy: So you read my last post?
Hubby: Yes.

Haddy: Have you ever left a comment?
Hubby: Yes.
(I must add that you need to read the comment he left on the previous post. It's a keeper.)

Haddy: Do you mind that I refer to you as Hubby there? Would you rather I use your name?
Hubby: Hubby is fine.

Haddy: Do you think the house would be cleaner if I didn't knit?
Hubby: What kinda question is that? I don't have an issue with yarn around the house. When we get a bigger house, maybe you can have a huge yarn closet.
Haddy: I'm just following a format. I think it's meant to get at the fact that knitters like to knit and often ignore chores in favor of knitting.
Hubby: Then no.

Haddy: Is there anything in particular you'd like me to knit you?
Hubby: Prefontaine slippers.
Haddy: I'll need a design consult.
Hubby: Way in favor of that. Nice yellow bottoms.
Haddy: I already have the yellow yarn. May need the green. You'll need to come pick it out.
Hubby: ok. and shoe laces. The real deal!
Haddy: You already have the real deal and Nike made it.
Hubby: fake shoelaces would be great
Haddy: We'll talk.

Haddy: That's all I have for questions. Is there anything you would like to add, go on record, official statements?
Hubby: No. Just that I may need another hat in the winter. I will buy the yarn.
Haddy: Ok, deal. What's on the radio now?
Hubby: OPP.
(and then he inserted animated emoticon of weird dancer dude)
Haddy: Nice. Perfect ending.

Go hubby! (Note to self: hide bathmats when entertaining Haddy and Hubby.)

I couldn't get on your blog yesterday and look what I missed. I'm going to have to interview Jim, if he'll take a few minutes to let me do it.
