I cannot believe that it is only Wednesday. It has been the longest week of my life. Work is no joke recently. All good stuff. It's just kickin' my behind.
I've been a little anxious about this quilt that has a deadline. See I got the idea, researched the perfect fabric, waited for fabric to arrive, waited for free time, waited for free time, etc. Then when the opportunity approached, I couldn't find my rotary cutting mat. Dammit. So I had to get a new one, which wasn't all that bad because I got a bigger one.
So after working late tonight and facing the fact that it is Wednesday and the quilt has a Sunday deadline, I faced cutting fabric and getting started. In a little over an hour I had this:
I am a little shocked at how fast I pulled this out. Granted, it's big blocks and not so much sewing. I still think I made great time. Plus check out these corners:
This is a man quilt for my brother-in-law. His birthday was yesterday and we're meeting up with him this weekend. A few years back he made several requests for a quilt and I said "no" flat out. (I can be rude, no?) I guess I didn't think he would appreciate it. Enough time has passed that I am certain he will not be expecting this. What guy wouldn't love a wood blanket with saw blades and tools?
One done.
One almost done.Oh yeah. For those that were wondering, I frogged a different sweater that was half knit to get the yarn for this one. Remember this? Yeah, me neither.

Saw blades and tools? That's so cool! Where did you find it? Perhaps I'll make a quilted tool belt for myself. Hmmm....
Cool fabrics. Where'd you find them? And, um, how does one lose something as large as a cutting mat??
Real men love quilts.
Ironing is abysmal, isn't it?
More importantly than just "how does one lose something as large as a cutting mat?" Is how does someone lose a cutting mat without having three kids in the house "helping" lose everything?! ;)
Great quilt
I know where your cutting mat is.You slid it behind something so that it would stay flat but out of the way. You'll find it when you move furniture. Trust me on this one. Fabulous woobby! Haddy's mom
Clearly none of you have fell prey to Hubby's organization techniques. I thought it was in the attic somewhere. Hubby's been employing the shove things in with just enough clearance to close the door technique.
There is also the question as to whether the cutting mat made the move. I do recall a certain group of students abusing it before I left.
Ha ha! Wood grain and saw blades... that's a Manly Quilt all right. ;-)
